How to Prepare for your Spray Tan ...
Exfoliate
Shower and thoroughly exfoliate your skin using a loofah, wash cloth or exfoliating mit approximately 1-12 hours prior to your spray tanning service. It is preferable to use a non-moisturizing body wash instead of bar soap because bar soap has a higher ph and can leave a residue on your skin that can alter your results. Exfoliating is important because it removes dead skin cells, which will make your tan even and last longer. Make sure to exfoliate your face and pay special attention to typically dry areas on your body like elbows and knees.
Shaving and Waxing
It is best to remove unwanted body hair before your spray tan application. Shaving exfoliates the top layer of skin, so it is best not to shave immediately following your spray tan. We recommend not waxing after your spray tan because it will remove the spray tan from the area you are treating and leave an uneven skin tone.
Clean Skin
Skin should be clean, dry and free from skin care products before being airbrushed. For optimal results, do not use exfoliants with moisturizing agents, moisturizing cleansers, lotions, deodorants, antiperspirants, body oils, shaving creams or makeup before your tanning appointment. These products can negatively affect the result of your spray tan. You can come with or without makeup on. We have face cleansing wipes so that you can remove your makeup prior to your application.
Manicures and Pedicures
We recommend getting your manicures and pedicures prior to your spray tanning service.
Clothing
It is best to wear dark colored, loose-fitting clothing like sweatpants or pajamas. Avoid wearing tight fitting garments like yoga pants and jeans. For footwear we recommend flip-flops, but depending on the weather, you can also wear shoes with socks. During your spray tanning session you may wear as little or as much as you feel comfortable in. If you choose to wear a swim suit or undergarments, dark inexpensive ones are best. Some fabrics may stain or discolor such as wool, lycra, nylon, spandex, silk, but our water-based solution usually washes out easily.
